How to use it

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you play the arrow memory game?

The game shows a sequence of arrows, one at a time. When it ends, you have to repeat it in the same order. Every level adds one more arrow, and the first mistake ends the game.

Can I use the keyboard or my finger?

Yes. Answer with the four buttons on screen, with the keyboard arrow keys (or the A, S, D, and W keys), or by swiping your finger over the play area in the right direction.

Does sound help me remember?

Yes. Each direction has a different tone, so with sound on you can rely on your ears as well as your eyes. Sound is off by default and you can turn it on with the switch in the top bar.

Can I see the sequence again?

Yes. You get one replay per game: the “Replay (1)” button shows the sequence of the current level again and is disabled after you use it. Save it for when you need it, because there is only one.

How does the speed change?

Difficulty rises gradually: each level adds one arrow and cuts a few milliseconds from the time each arrow stays on screen, down to a minimum so it never becomes impossible. If you struggle to keep up, turn on the slow sequence: each arrow stays on screen longer, and your preference is saved for the next game.

Is my best score saved?

Yes. When each game ends, your best number of correct arrows and a chart of your last games are saved in your browser’s local storage. You can play as many times as you like.

How to play the arrow memory game

This is a sequential memory game. In each round, a series of arrows is shown one at a time in a specific order. When the preview ends, your task is to repeat it in the same order. The sequence starts with three arrows and grows with every level; a single mistake ends the game.

Tricks for remembering sequences

  • Group them: think of the arrows in pairs or threes, like blocks.
  • Use your body: move your hand slightly toward the direction you see; the movement reinforces memory.
  • Lean on sound: each direction sounds different and works as a clue.
  • Repeat it under your breath: naming the direction (“up, left, down”) helps fix it in mind.

Fair, progressive difficulty

Each level adds exactly one arrow and the preview speed drops gradually, down to a minimum, so it never becomes impossible. The sequence of every level is new: it does not continue the previous one. That way the challenge is remembering the whole sequence, not carrying over a mistake from an earlier level.

Why train your working memory

Remembering a short sequence of stimuli is a classic working memory exercise, the same memory you use to follow instructions or do mental math. Practicing for a few minutes a day is a simple way to keep it active.

Privacy

The whole game runs in your browser, with no connection to any server. Your best score and your speed preference are saved only on your device, and you can delete them whenever you like.
