Step by step

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more videos into the box or select them from your device. You will see the size, length, and resolution of each one.
  2. Choose a mode: a ready-made preset, a percentage to save, or a maximum size such as 16 MB for WhatsApp or 25 MB for email.
  3. If you like, open the advanced settings to change the resolution, frames per second, audio, or codec.
  4. Select “Compress video,” compare the before and after, and download the result. With several videos, download them together as a ZIP.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens inside your browser, using the power of your own device. Your videos are never sent over the internet, so you can compress private recordings safely.

How do I make a video smaller than 16 MB for WhatsApp?

Choose the “Maximum size” mode and select 16 MB. The tool works out the quality needed for the length of the video, checks the result, and if it came out too big, tries again with a little less quality. Very long videos may lose some sharpness.

Is quality lost when compressing?

Yes, some quality is always lost, because the video is encoded again with less data. With “High quality” the difference is barely noticeable; with “Maximum compression” it is. You can compare the same frame before and after you download.

What happens if the result is larger than the original?

You are told, and the original is kept. This happens with videos that are already highly compressed. In that case, try a higher percentage, a lower resolution, or a smaller maximum size.

Which format and codec should I choose?

MP4 with H.264 is the most compatible and plays on almost any device. WebM with VP9 or AV1 gives smaller files at the same quality, but takes longer and some older programs can’t open it. If your browser can’t create MP4, the tool uses WebM.

Is there a limit on file size or the number of videos?

There is no artificial limit and no watermark. You can compress up to 20 videos at once, and each one can be up to 4 GB. The real limit is your device’s memory, so very large videos may be slower.

Three ways to reduce the size

  • Ready-made presets: high quality (saves about 40%), balanced (60%), or maximum compression (80%). You see the estimated size of each one before you start.
  • Reduce by a percentage: drag the slider and see how large the result will be.
  • Maximum size: enter the limit of the service where you will send the video, and the tool adjusts the quality so it stays under it.

How a video gets smaller without looking worse

What makes a video heavy is the number of pixels per second. Going from 4K or 1080p down to 720p, or from 60 to 30 frames per second, can cut the file in half with little visible difference on a phone. The automatic resolution option picks the highest size that still looks good at the size you asked for.

Common sending limits

As a reference, checked in September 2026: WhatsApp accepts videos of up to about 16 MB in a chat, Gmail and Outlook attach up to 25 MB, and Discord allows 10 MB without a subscription. These values change over time, so confirm them with the service you use.
