Step by step

How to use it

  1. Choose the content type (URL, text, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, contact, email, phone, SMS, or location) and fill in the details.
  2. On the Design tab, choose colors, a gradient, and the shape of the dots and corners. If you want, add your logo on the next tab.
  3. Check the preview: the tool tests that the code reads correctly with the design you chose and warns you if the contrast is low.
  4. Download it as a PNG (512, 1024, or 2048 pixels) or as an SVG to print at any size, or copy the image to the clipboard.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do QR codes expire or have a scan limit?

No. These are static codes: the content is stored inside the image and does not depend on our site or on any subscription. They work forever and can be scanned as many times as you like, as long as whatever you put in them, such as a link or a phone number, still exists.

Is the data I type saved or sent anywhere?

No. The code is generated in your browser. What you type, such as a Wi-Fi password or a contact’s details, never leaves your device, is not saved, and is not sent to any server.

How do I make a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat?

Choose WhatsApp, select the country, and type the number the way you dial it, with the area code. The tool removes any leading 0, adds the country code, and shows you the full number before you download. You can also add a starting message that will appear already typed in the chat.

Which format should I download?

Use PNG for screens, social media, and documents. Use SVG for printing on signs, cards, or packaging: it is a vector file that stays sharp at any size. If you are printing, make the code at least 0.8 inches (2 cm) wide.

Why won’t my QR code with colors or a logo scan?

It is almost always the contrast: the code must be darker than the background. It also helps to keep the logo small, up to a quarter of the width, and to leave a margin of 4 modules around the code. The tool tests the code and shows a warning when it detects a problem.

Can I use the QR code for business?

Yes. The codes you generate are yours, with no watermark and no usage restrictions. QR Code is a registered trademark of Denso Wave, but creating and using QR codes is free.

What you can store in a QR code

A QR code is a fast way to move information from paper to a phone screen. Besides links, it can open a WhatsApp chat with the message already typed, share the details of a Wi-Fi network so guests connect without typing the password, save a contact card with one tap, start an email, dial a phone number, send a text message, or point to a spot on a map.

How to make a QR code that always scans

  • Contrast: dark code on a light background. Avoid inverting the colors.
  • Margin: leave at least 4 modules of empty space around the code.
  • Size: at least 0.8 inches (2 cm) wide when printed, and larger if it will be scanned from a distance.
  • Logo: small and centered. The tool raises error correction to the maximum when you add one.
  • Test: scan it with your phone before printing a thousand copies.

Static means forever

“Dynamic QR code” services ask for a subscription and make your code depend on their server. Here the content lives inside the code itself: there are no redirects and no expiration date, and nobody can cut off your access.

WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, and other types

For a WhatsApp QR code, pick the country and type the number the way you normally dial it: the tool removes any leading 0 and adds the country code for you. Before you generate, it shows the full number the code will open. For a Wi-Fi QR code, enter the network name, the password, and the security type; anyone who scans it connects without typing anything.

Print size

  • Business card or flyer: between 0.8 and 1.2 inches (2 to 3 cm) wide.
  • Poster or shop window: at least 4 inches (10 cm), and the farther away it will be scanned, the larger it should be.
  • Format: use SVG for print shops and large signs because it stays sharp at any size, and PNG for screens and documents.

If it will not scan

Check three things: the code is darker than the background, it has a margin around it, and it does not hold too much content. The more text a QR code stores, the more dots it has and the larger it must be printed. If you add a logo, keep it at 20% of the code’s width or less.
