Watermarked PDF
How to use it
- Drop your PDF into the box or choose it from your device. You will see the first page with the watermark on it.
- Pick text or image. Type your text (or choose an example like “DRAFT”) or upload your logo.
- Adjust the position, rotation, transparency, and size while you watch the preview. Turn on “Repeat across the page” if you want a tiled pattern.
- Choose which pages get it and select “Add watermark”. Download the new PDF: the original is not changed.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The watermark is added inside your browser and the file never leaves your device. You can use the tool with private documents.
Can I use my logo as a watermark?
Yes. Choose “Image” and upload a JPG, PNG, or WEBP. If your logo is a PNG with a transparent background, the transparency is kept. You can adjust the width, transparency, and position.
What is the difference between putting the watermark on top of or behind the content?
On top is always visible, even over images and colored backgrounds. Behind sits behind the text, but it does not show on pages with an opaque background, such as a scan that fills the whole sheet.
Can the watermark be removed later?
The watermark becomes part of the pages in the new file, so keep the original. The one you download cannot be reliably separated from the content again.
Can I add the watermark to only some pages?
Yes. Under “Pages” choose all pages, only odd pages, only even pages, or type a range like 1-3, 5, 8-.
Does a watermark protect a document?
It helps identify the document and discourages copying, but it does not stop someone from covering or cropping it. If you need to keep people from opening the file, use “Protect PDF” to add a password.
When to use a watermark
A watermark makes the status or owner of a document clear: “DRAFT” on a proposal that is still under review, “COPY” on a duplicate, “CONFIDENTIAL” on an internal report, or your company logo on a catalog. Because it is translucent, it is visible without getting in the way of reading.
Tips for a clean result
- Diagonal text: at 45° and 20 to 30% opacity it is easy to read and does not hide the content.
- Logo in a corner: use a transparent PNG, a width of 15 to 25%, and the “Bottom right” position.
- Tiled pattern: repeat the watermark across the whole page when you want it to be hard to crop out.
After watermarking
If the file is going to be shared around, add a password with Protect PDF. If it ended up too heavy, run it through Compress PDF.
