How the time is calculated
The time is calculated from your device’s clock and your browser’s time zone rules. If your device’s clock is wrong, every city will be off by the same amount. If a country changed its rules recently, an out-of-date browser may show the wrong time.
Many places do not change their clocks during the year. Arizona, Hawaii, and India, for example, keep the same time all year.

How to use it
- Check the starting cities: each card shows its time, its date, and how many hours it is ahead of or behind you.
- Search for another city or country in the search box and add it. Reorder the list with the arrows or by dragging.
- In the meeting planner, choose a base city, a day, and a time, and see the equivalent time in every city over a 24-hour bar.
- Look for where everyone overlaps, copy the result as text for your invitation, or share a link with the same list.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the time on the clock come from?
It is calculated from your device’s clock and the time zone rules built into your browser, without asking any server. That is why it keeps working offline once the page has loaded. If your device’s clock is wrong, every city will be off by the same amount.
Does it adjust for daylight saving time automatically?
Yes. Each city follows the rules of its own time zone, so it changes by itself on the right day. Each card shows whether the city is on daylight saving time and the date of the next change. If a country changed its rules recently, an out-of-date browser may show the wrong time.
Why doesn’t Arizona change its clocks?
Arizona (apart from the Navajo Nation) stays on UTC−7 all year and does not use daylight saving time, and neither do Hawaii and most US territories. That is why Phoenix is on the same time as Denver in winter but on the same time as Los Angeles in summer.
How do I find a good time for a meeting across several countries?
In the planner, each city has a bar for its day: dark blue is work hours (9 AM to 6 PM), light blue is reasonable (7 AM to 9 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM), and striped is night. The “Everyone overlaps” row marks the stretches where nobody is outside reasonable hours. Click the bar or use the slider to try different times.
Where is my list of cities saved?
Only in your browser, in the site’s own storage. There are no accounts and no servers. If you clear the site data or switch browsers, you go back to the starting list. To take your list somewhere else, copy the share link.
Can I add a city that is not on the list?
The list has more than 300 capitals and large cities. If yours is missing, type the name of its time zone in the search box, for example America/Indiana/Indianapolis, and it is added with the correct time.
Current time in Mexico City
Mexico City is in the America/Mexico_City time zone, in Mexico. It stays on UTC−6 all year. In everyday use the time zone is called Central Standard Time (CST). Mexico City is the capital and the largest city in Mexico, and the Mexican Stock Exchange trades from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM local time. Its clock matches Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Chicago in winter.
No clock changes in Mexico City
Mexico abolished daylight saving time in October 2022. Mexico City now stays on Central Standard Time (CST), UTC−6, all year round. Some municipalities along the US border, such as Tijuana, still follow the United States calendar.
Time difference with other cities
Your own difference with this city is on the card above, updated live. Here is how it compares with other places people often check:
- With New York: New York is between 1 and 2 hours ahead of Mexico City, depending on the time of year.
- With Chicago: Chicago is on the same time as Mexico City for part of the year and 1 hour ahead of it for the rest.
- With Los Angeles: Los Angeles is between 1 and 2 hours behind Mexico City, depending on the time of year.
- With Miami: Miami is between 1 and 2 hours ahead of Mexico City, depending on the time of year.
- With Madrid: Madrid is between 7 and 8 hours ahead of Mexico City, depending on the time of year.
- With Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo is 3 hours ahead of Mexico City all year.
Business hours converted
On a typical day, when it is 9:00 AM in Mexico City it is between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM in New York, between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM in Chicago, and between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM in Los Angeles; when it is 6:00 PM it is between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM in New York, between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM in Chicago, and between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM in Los Angeles. Because Mexico City no longer changes its clocks, it is on the same time as Chicago in winter but one hour behind it in summer. US-Mexico teams should confirm the zone in every recurring invite, since it is no longer simply the same as the US Central zone.
Plan a meeting
Offices in Mexico City usually work from about 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Add the other cities to the meeting planner and slide through the day to see who is at work, who is up early or late, and who is asleep. Because the clocks in Mexico City never change, only the other city’s clock moves when daylight saving time starts or ends, and the planner recalculates this for any date you choose.
