- Drag your WebP images into the box or select them from your device. You can add several at once.
- Choose JPG or PNG, the quality and, if the image has transparency, the background color.
- If the WebP is animated, decide whether you want the first frame or all the frames in a ZIP.
- Download each image separately or all of them together in a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser, on your own device. Your images never leave it.
Why do images I download from the web come as WebP?
WebP is a modern format that is smaller than JPG and PNG at similar quality, which is why many sites use it. The problem is that some programs, forms, and older apps do not accept it. Converting it to JPG or PNG solves that.
What happens with an animated WebP?
We detect whether the file is animated and let you choose between converting only the first frame or extracting every frame as separate images in a ZIP. Extracting all of them requires a recent browser based on Chrome, Edge, or Safari.
Is the transparency of the WebP kept?
If you convert to PNG, yes. A JPG does not support transparency, so those areas are filled with a background color: white by default, or the one you choose.
Do I lose quality when I go from WebP to JPG?
You lose a little, because both WebP and JPG use lossy compression. At quality 90 the difference is not noticeable. If you do not want to lose anything more, convert to PNG.
How many images can I convert at once?
Up to 50 per batch, with up to 50 MB each, with no daily limit and no sign-up. When they finish, you can download them all in a single ZIP file.
What WebP is and why it shows up when you save images
WebP is an image format created by Google to make web pages load faster. It compresses better than JPG and PNG, supports transparency, and also supports animation. That is why, when you save an image from your browser, you often get a .webp file instead of .jpg or .png.
How to use a WebP image where it is not accepted
If an editor, an online store, or a form rejects the file, convert it:
- to JPG for photographs and general use;
- to PNG if you need to keep transparency or avoid losing more quality.
For animated images, you can extract each frame as a separate image and download them together in a ZIP.
JPG or PNG: which one to choose
Photographs look good and stay small as JPG. Logos, screenshots, and drawings with text look sharper as PNG, although the file is larger. If the WebP has transparent parts and you need them, choose PNG; if you choose JPG, those areas are filled with the background color you pick.
Tips before you convert
- If you are going to upload the image to a form with a size limit, convert to JPG at quality 80 or 85: it is usually enough and the file is much smaller.
- Check the file name: when you download an image from the internet, the name sometimes ends in .webp even though the program that opens it expects another format.
- You can load several images together and download them in a single ZIP, without repeating the process for each one.
