Type a whole number from 1 up.
Capital letters, hyphens, and “and” are all fine. Also understands “negative”, “minus”, and “point”.
How to use it
- Type the number or the amount. “1,234,567.89”, “1234567.89” and “$1,234.56” all work.
- Pick the currency (or “No currency”) and whether you want the cents spelled out or as a fraction, like “56/100”.
- Adjust the capitalization or turn on the British “and” if you need it. The result updates as you type.
- Copy the text with one click. The other tabs give ordinals (twenty-first) and turn words back into a number.
Frequently asked questions
Can I type the amount the European way?
Yes. “1.234,56” and “1,234.56” give the same result. When the comma is the decimal separator we say how we read it, so you can double-check.
Is it “euros” or “euro”?
In English the plural is “euros”: “twelve euros”, and the singular “one euro”. The cents are “cents” (“euro cents” is also used, but it is not required).
Does it work for contracts and invoices?
Yes, as a base. Use the contract template to get the words followed by the amount in figures, and check the exact wording your document requires.
Writing euro amounts in words
Euro amounts are written in words on invoices, contracts and bank forms. Here euros are preselected, so you only have to type the amount and copy the result. The decimals become cents, rounded to two places.
Other options
Capitalize the text as you need, spell the cents out or show them as a fraction over 100, and add the British “and” if your document uses it. For another currency, go back to the number to words converter.
