Processed on your device: nothing is uploaded

On a phone this opens the camera; on a computer it lets you choose an image. You can also add several from your gallery.

The straighter the photo and the better the light, the better the result.

Step by step

How to use it

  1. Take a photo with your phone camera, drag images in, choose them from your device, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  2. In the editor, drag the four corners to the edges of the page, or select “Detect edges” and let them snap into place on their own.
  3. Pick a filter: color, grayscale, or black and white for cleaner text. Then choose Letter, A4, or the size of the image for the PDF pages.
  4. Check the preview of each page, add more photos if you need to, and select “Create PDF.”
  5. Download the PDF with all the pages, or the corrected images in a ZIP.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Perspective correction, filters, and PDF creation all happen inside your browser. Your photos and documents never leave your device, so you can scan contracts, prescriptions, or other private paperwork.

What does “Detect edges” actually do?

It looks for the sheet of paper in the photo: it evens out the lighting, tries several thresholds (local contrast, shadows, and glare), and picks the most plausible four-sided shape. It copes with light backgrounds, hard shadows, and soft glare. When the scene is tricky and confidence is low, it tells you to check the corners and adjust them by hand, which only takes a few seconds.

Why does the result look sharper than my photo?

Once you set the four corners, the tool straightens the page and redraws it as if you had photographed it head-on. The black and white filter also uses an adaptive threshold that separates the text from the paper and removes shadows.

Which filter should I use?

Use “Color” if your document has stamps, colored signatures, or photos. Use “Grayscale” for text with soft shadows. Use “Black and white” for contracts and notes: the file is smaller and the text is cleaner and easier to read.

Should I choose Letter or A4?

Letter is the standard paper size in the United States and Canada, and A4 is the standard almost everywhere else. Both add a small margin around the page. “Image size” makes each PDF page match its scan exactly, with no margins.

Can I scan several pages into one PDF?

Yes. Add as many photos as you like and check each one in the editor. When you create the PDF, you get one file with one page per photo, in the order shown in the list. Photos are scaled down to a manageable size before they are processed, so ten or twenty pages work fine on any phone.

Tips for a scan that looks professional

  • Shoot from straight above. The more level the camera is with the page, the less work the perspective correction has to do and the sharper the text comes out.
  • Look for contrast with the background. A light page on a dark table is easier to detect on its own; a light page on a light background means adjusting the corners by hand.
  • Avoid strong shadows. Use even lighting and no direct flash glare. The black and white filter is forgiving, but a hard shadow will cover the text.
  • Frame only the page. If there is a lot of table in the shot, use the corners to crop it out and make the most of the pixels in the document.

What to check before you download

Look at the preview of each page: the four corners should follow the edges of the sheet, no text should be cut off, and the filter you picked should suit the page. For documents with signatures or stamps, color helps keep that information from getting lost.

Letter, A4, or image size

Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is the right choice for printing or submitting documents in the United States and Canada. A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the standard in most other countries. If you only need the scan on screen, “Image size” keeps every page exactly as large as the scan, with no added margins.

When another tool is a better fit

If your photos are already ready and you only want to put them into one PDF, use JPG to PDF. If the finished PDF is too large, run it through Compress PDF. And to add a signature, try Sign PDF.
