What to clean
The number next to each option is how much it would change in your text.

“won-” and “derful” become “wonderful.” Only if the next line starts in lowercase.

Frequently asked questions
How do I fix text copied from a PDF with a line break on every line?
Choose the “Text pasted from a PDF” preset. It joins the lines of each paragraph, reconnects words the PDF split with a hyphen, and keeps the blank lines between paragraphs. If your PDF does not separate paragraphs with a blank line, a short line that ends in a period is treated as the end of a paragraph.
What are invisible characters, and why remove them?
They are characters you cannot see, such as the zero-width space (U+200B), the soft hyphen, or the byte order mark. They sneak in when you copy and paste from websites, chats, or documents, and they can make a search miss a word, make a password get rejected, or make two identical texts look different.
How do I paste text without formatting into Word or Google Docs?
Press Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac) instead of Ctrl+V. That pastes only the text, with no bold, colors, or font sizes. You can also paste it here, clean it, and copy the result.
Does cleaning remove accents or letters?
No. Each option only touches what its name says. Accent marks are removed only if you turn on “Accent marks and diacritics,” and then every accented letter is replaced by its plain version.
Can I clean a very long text?
Yes, up to several million characters. Large texts are processed in the background so the page does not freeze, and the preview shows the first 12,000 characters.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The cleaning happens in your browser and your text never leaves your device.
What this tool can clean
When you copy text from a PDF, a website, a chat, or a Word document, it almost always brings something extra: double spaces, a line break on every line, curly quotes, odd bullets, or characters you cannot see. This tool lets you choose what to remove and shows the effect of each option before you copy.
Text pasted from a PDF
PDFs store every line as a separate line, so when you paste them the text is cut in the middle of sentences. The “Join the lines of each paragraph” option puts them back together and respects the blank lines that separate paragraphs. If a word was split with a hyphen at the end of a line, “Join words split by a hyphen at the end of a line” rebuilds it.
Invisible characters
A zero-width space or a soft hyphen cannot be seen, but they still count as characters. They can break a search, a spreadsheet filter, or a password. The counter in this tool tells you how many there are, and the preview marks them with their name, for example [zero-width space].
Pasting without formatting
In Word, Google Docs, and most other programs, Ctrl+Shift+V pastes only the text. On a Mac it is Cmd+Shift+V. On this page, text is always pasted as plain text.
