Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is created inside your browser, on your own device. Your text and the resulting file never leave it, so you can use the tool with private documents.
Does it work with accented letters and other alphabets?
Yes. Every font draws accented Latin letters correctly. If your text has letters from other languages (Polish, Greek, Cyrillic, or Vietnamese), the tool fills them in with the Noto Sans font. Emojis and Chinese or Japanese characters cannot be drawn and are replaced with “?”.
What is the difference between the fonts?
Helvetica, Times, and Courier come with every PDF reader and make the file smaller. Noto Sans and Noto Serif are embedded in the PDF: they weigh a little more, but they look the same on every device and cover many more alphabets.
What does the “Interpret Markdown” option do?
It turns Markdown writing into formatting: lines that start with # become headings, **text** becomes bold, *text* becomes italic, lines with - or 1. become lists, and lines that start with > become quotes. Without this option, the text is copied as it is, keeping every line break.
Are my line breaks and indentation kept?
Yes. Each line of your text starts on a new line, blank lines are kept, and spaces at the start of a line are preserved. Lines longer than the page width wrap at the right word, and very long addresses or words are broken so they stay inside the margin.
Is there a limit on pages or size?
There is no limit on pages or on how much you use the tool. The only requirements are that the text stays under 3 million characters (about 1,000 pages) and that the files you open are smaller than 5 MB, so your browser can work comfortably.
A clean PDF from plain text
A PDF looks the same on every device, which is not true of a text file or a Word document. This tool splits your text into lines and pages by measuring the real font, so no word is cut off or runs past the margin, and page breaks fall where they should.
Formatting tips
- For reading on screen or printing: Letter or A4, 11 to 12 pt type, 25 mm margins, and 1.15 to 1.5 line spacing. Letter is the standard in the United States and Canada; A4 is used almost everywhere else.
- For notes and code: Courier keeps everything aligned. Lower the size to 9 or 10 pt if you have long lines.
- For formal documents: Times or Noto Serif, justified text, and numbered pages.
Basic Markdown
If your notes are written in Markdown, turn the option on and you get headings, bold, italics, lists, and quotes with no extra steps. It is not a full converter: tables, images, and formatted code are shown as plain text.
After creating the PDF
