      How to use it

      1. Pick a date from the list (Christmas, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, July 4th, and more) or switch to “My event”.
      2. In “My event”, type a name, a date, and optionally a time. Turn on “Repeat every year” for birthdays and anniversaries.
      3. Read the calendar days left, the exact time ticking live, and how many of those days fall Monday through Friday.
      4. Save the event to find it again, select “Full screen” to show it on a screen, or select “Copy link” to share the same countdown.
      5. Under “My live countdowns” you see every saved event ticking at once. “Embed on a site” copies a code to paste the countdown into another page, and you can turn on a sound for when it reaches zero.

      Frequently asked questions

      Is the 4th of July always on July 4?

      Yes, the date is fixed. When it falls on a weekend, the federal day off is observed on the nearest Friday or Monday.

      When is the day off in 2026 and 2027?

      In 2026, July 4 is a Saturday, so federal offices observe the holiday on Friday, July 3. In 2027 it is a Sunday, so the day off is Monday, July 5.
