How to use it

  1. Drop your PDF into the box or choose it from your device. You will see all the pages as thumbnails.
  2. Select the pages you want to keep by clicking them (hold Shift to select a range), or type the numbers, for example 1-3, 5, 8-.
  3. Check the summary and, if you like, change the name of the new file. The pages come out in the order you type them.
  4. Select “Extract pages” and download the PDF. Afterward you can reorder, rotate, or compress it.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The pages are extracted inside your browser and the document never leaves your device, so you can use the tool with private files.

How do I type the pages I want to extract?

Separate pages and ranges with commas: “2, 4-6, 9-” takes page 2, pages 4 to 6, and page 9 through the end. You can also type “last” for the last page. If you prefer to do it by eye, select the thumbnails and the field fills itself in.

Can I extract the pages in a different order?

Yes. The pages come out in the order you type them: “5, 1-3” creates a PDF that starts with page 5 and continues with pages 1, 2, and 3. If you use the thumbnails, they come out in the original order of the document.

Is quality lost, or is the original PDF modified?

No. The pages are copied as they are, without being compressed again, and your original file stays intact. The text stays selectable and the images keep their resolution.

What is the difference from “Split PDF”?

Extract creates a single PDF with the pages you choose. Split is for when you want several files at once: one per range, per page, by size, or by chapter.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

If the PDF needs a password to open, first remove it with “Unlock PDF” (you must know it). PDFs that only have printing or editing restrictions are processed without any problem.

When extracting pages makes sense

Extracting is the quickest option when you only need one part of a long document: one invoice from a scanned batch, a chapter from a manual, the signed page of a contract, or the pages of a report you have to send. The result is a new, lightweight PDF, and the original stays as it was. If you want several separate files instead, use Split PDF.

A practical case

You received a 40-page PDF with all of the month’s invoices and you only have to send the one on page 17. Type “17” or click that thumbnail, select “Extract pages,” and download a one-page PDF. To send several at once, type, for example, “3, 17, 22-24”: they are saved in that order.

Tips

  • Hold Shift when you click a thumbnail to select every page between two points.
  • “Invert” is useful when it is easier to select what you do not want: select those pages and invert the selection to keep the rest.
  • Internal links that pointed to pages you did not extract are removed, so the new file does not drag the whole document along.
