Flappy Fish
One fish, one tap, and a sea full of coral. Each tap pushes the fish up, gravity pulls it down, and you choose where to pass. You score a point for every gap you clear.
Tap the screen, click, or press Space to make the fish swim up. Pass through the gaps between the corals without touching them.
Tips
- Each tap gives a short push upward; between taps, gravity pulls the fish down.
- Tap at a steady rhythm and aim for the middle of the gap: calm, even taps work better than rushed ones.
- The sea gets harder as you go: from 10 points, smaller gaps; from 25, moving corals; from 40, currents; from 60, jellyfish.
- The game ends when you touch the coral, the floor, or the surface. Pause with P or Esc.

How to use it
- Select Play, then tap the screen, click, or press Space to start swimming.
- Each tap pushes the fish up; if you do not tap, gravity pulls it down.
- Swim through the gap between each pair of coral columns: every gap you clear scores a point.
- Pause with P, Esc, or the Pause button; the game also pauses by itself if you switch tabs.
- Hitting the coral, a jellyfish, the sea floor, or the surface ends the game and saves your best score.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Flappy Fish?
Tap the screen, click, or press Space (or the up arrow) to give the fish a push upward. Between taps, gravity pulls it down. Your goal is to swim through the gaps between the coral columns without touching them.
How does scoring work?
You earn a point each time the fish finishes passing through a gap. Your score is the number of gaps cleared, and your best one is saved in your browser along with a chart of your last games.
Does the difficulty change during a game?
Yes, and it never stops: it keeps rising while you play. Up to 10 points it is gentle so you can learn; from there the gaps shrink and the sea moves faster. From 25 there are moving corals, from 40 there are currents that push the fish up or down, from 60 there are jellyfish and bigger height differences between gaps, and from 80 everything combines at almost top speed. Each new element is announced on screen and there is always a possible path.
What happens if I touch the coral, a jellyfish, the floor, or the surface?
The game ends immediately and your score is shown. The fish’s collision box is smaller than its drawing, so a visual brush with a fin does not count as a crash.
Can I play with the keyboard?
Yes. Use the space bar or the up arrow. Holding the key down does not repeat the push: each press counts once. Pause with P or Esc.
Does it work on a phone, and at night?
Yes. You play with a tap anywhere on the sea, and the play area adapts to portrait screens. With the dark theme the sea becomes a night sea with glowing plankton. If your device asks for less motion, the parallax, the screen shake, and the particles are reduced.
Flappy Fish rules
- The fish swims right on its own and you only control its height with a tap.
- Each tap sets an upward push; between taps, gravity pulls the fish down up to a maximum falling speed (currents add to that gravity or cancel part of it).
- Coral columns come in from the right, always with the same spacing and with the gap at a different height.
- You score a point for every gap you clear. The game ends if you touch the coral, a jellyfish, the sea floor, or the surface.
Scoring and difficulty
The game starts calm and the sea gets harder as you go, with an on-screen notice at every change. From 0 to 10 points you learn: wide gaps and a gentle current. From 10, the gaps and the spacing between columns shrink and the sea moves faster. From 25 moving corals appear, whose gap rises and falls more and more. From 40 there are currents: strips of water with arrows that push the fish up or down. From 60 consecutive gaps differ more in height and some have a jellyfish that floats and has to be dodged. From 80 everything combines, at almost top speed. Everything is capped and every gap can be reached from the previous one with the game’s real physics. Milestones at 10, 30, 60, and 100 points earn a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medal next to the score.
Tips for going further
- Tap at a steady rhythm instead of rushing: short, even pushes keep you stable.
- Watch the next gap, not the fish. Correcting before you enter is easier than correcting inside.
- With a moving coral, watch which way the gap is heading and aim for where it will be, not where it is.
- Before a current, enter the stretch with a little extra or missing height: the arrows show which way it pushes. With a jellyfish, pick the wider side and go through without hesitating.
- Aim a little below the middle of the gap: after each push the fish rises and then sinks.
- Avoid hugging the surface. Touching it ends the game just like the coral does.
- If you add a fixed seed to the address (
?seed=), you will always see the same sequence of columns, which is handy for practicing a stretch.
