Type some text to see the words that repeat the most.

This is off: your text is not saved anywhere. If you turn it on, it stays only in this browser.

How we count
  • Word: letters and numbers in a row, with an internal hyphen, apostrophe, or number separator. “well-being”, “don’t”, and “1,234.56” are one word each; so is a URL or an email address.
  • Character: what you see as a single letter or symbol, even if it uses several codes (ü, ç, an emoji, or a family of emojis).
  • Sentence: text that ends in a period, question mark, or exclamation point. Abbreviations (Mr., Dr., etc.) and initials do not end a sentence.
  • Paragraph: a block separated by a blank line. If there are no blank lines, each line with text is a paragraph.
  • Times: 238 words per minute reading silently and 150 speaking aloud.
Step by step

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text in the box. You can also open a .txt or .docx file.
  2. Check the numbers as you type: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and lines.
  3. Select a passage to count only that part, or set a word goal and follow the progress bar.
  4. Review the most repeated words, then copy the statistics or download your text.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 2,200 the caption limit?

Yes, Instagram allows up to 2,200 characters in a post caption. The bio has a much lower limit, 150 characters.

Do hashtags and line breaks count?

Yes. Every letter, number, symbol, space, and line break counts. If you post with many tags and several paragraphs, it is a good idea to leave some room.

Can I use it to prepare my text before posting?

That is what it is for: type or paste the full caption, make sure it fits the limit, then copy it into Instagram. Your text never leaves your browser.

Instagram's 2,200-character limit

A post caption on Instagram can hold up to 2,200 characters, plenty of room to tell a story and add hashtags. Going over means cutting text right before you publish, so it is worth checking ahead of time.

Prepare your caption with room to spare

With the 2,200 limit loaded, the tool shows the characters used and the ones left. Because it counts on your device, you can paste your draft without sending it to any server. The bio, on the other hand, has a much smaller limit; for any network, the character counter applies each platform's rules. You will find more options in the word counter.
