Frequently asked questions
What is 1200x630 used for?
It is the recommended size for the image that appears when you share a link on Facebook, LinkedIn, and many other apps. It is also the usual size for the Open Graph image of a web page.
Is the image cropped?
Yes. The “Fill” fit covers the whole frame and crops what does not fit, centered. If you need to keep the whole image, switch to “Fit” and choose the bar color.
Which format should I use?
JPG is the best choice for photos and keeps the file small. Use PNG if your image has text or sharp graphics. You can change the output format in the options.
The size of a link preview image
When you share a link, apps show a preview card with an image. The most common size for that image is 1200x630 pixels, which has an aspect ratio of about 1.9 to 1. Using that size keeps the app from cropping the image in unexpected ways.
Keep important content in the center
This tool crops to the center, so keep text and logos away from the edges. If you would rather not lose any part of the image, choose “Fit”. For a square image use resize to 1080x1080, or open the full resize tool.
