How to use it
- Drop one or more PDFs into the box, or choose them from your device.
- Choose the compression level: Low keeps almost all the detail, Recommended balances size and quality, and Extreme shrinks as much as it can. If you need a specific size, turn on “Fit to a size” and type the MB.
- Select “Compress PDF.” You will see how much each file weighed and how much it weighs now, with a before and after preview.
- Download the result. If you compressed several files, you can download them all together in a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Is 200 KB a good size to send?
Yes. It is a comfortable size to attach to an email or upload to a portal, and it usually keeps the text readable. If the document has many photos, it may not be possible to get there, and we will tell you.
Can I use it with scanned documents?
Yes, but scans weigh more. The tool lowers the resolution and quality of the images; if it still does not get under 200 KB, turn on “Convert to grayscale” or try the “Maximum” level.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The compression happens inside your browser and the PDF never leaves your device, so you can compress private documents with peace of mind.
The 200 KB target
Many job boards, scholarship sites, and online procedures set a maximum of 200 KB per file. It is a limit that is usually reachable for documents with little graphic content, keeping the text selectable and sharp. This page has it selected for you.
How it gets there
The tool tries lower and lower qualities and, only if needed, reduces the resolution of the images. Before downloading you can see how much the original weighed and how much the result weighs. If you need an even smaller size, use compress to 100 KB; for a looser limit, compress to 500 KB.
