FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does rasterizing an SVG mean?

An SVG is a vector: it is described with shapes and looks sharp at any size. Converting it to JPG turns it into a pixel image with a fixed size, which can no longer be enlarged without losing definition.

Why convert SVG to JPG?

Some programs, forms, or print shops do not accept vectors. JPG opens anywhere and is useful for sharing or pasting into a document.

What happens to the transparent background of the SVG?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background color, white by default. You can pick another color in the options.

SVG and JPG: vector vs. pixels

SVG is ideal for logos and icons because it looks sharp at any size. But if you need it in a program that does not accept vectors, it has to be rasterized: converted into a pixel image. JPG is a small option that is compatible with everything.

How to do it

The output format is already JPG. Drop in your SVG files and choose the background color for the transparent areas. Keep in mind that, as a still image, it can no longer be enlarged without losing definition. If you want to keep transparency, use PNG; for other pairs, open the image converter.
