FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why convert a TIFF to JPG?

TIFF keeps a lot of quality, but it is large and few web viewers can open it. JPG is small and compatible with everything, which is ideal for sharing or publishing a scan.

Do I lose scan quality?

Some detail is lost to compression, but at quality 90 or higher text and photos still look good. Keep the original TIFF if you need maximum fidelity for editing.

Does it work with multi-page TIFFs?

The largest page in the file is converted, and the tool tells you when a TIFF has more than one. To convert every page, split the TIFF into separate images first.

TIFF and JPG for scans

TIFF is common in scanners and print shops because of its quality, but it is large and does not open in just any program. JPG is small and universal, ideal for sending a scanned document or uploading it to a form. The conversion reduces the size dramatically.

How to do it

The output format is already JPG. Drop in your TIFF files, adjust the quality, and download the result. Your browser opens most TIFFs; if one does not load, it may be an unusual TIFF. If you are starting from a PDF, it is better to convert the PDF to JPG; for other formats, open the image converter, or see PNG to WebP if you need a lighter file for the web.
